Who Knew this LOVE Potion Actually Had Science to Back it Up

And previous research has shown that thinking about romantic love makes people perceive food to be sweeter.

So a simple box of chocolates could bring sweet success to future dating exploits. The only tricky part will be persuading your date to get stuck in immediately without appearing like an Agatha Christie villain who has injected cyanide into the almond surprise.

Sharing a tub of Haagen-Dazs at the cinema may be a less suspicion-inducing option.

And for those who make it beyond the first date Mairead Molloy, who founded the upmarket dating service Berkeley International, has revealed her tips for getting a relationship to the next level.

So once the chocolate has worked its (black) magic, here’s what to do next:

1) Try to hold off having a physical relationship for at least 4 dates – men don’t want to marry a girl who doesn’t provide a bit of a chase.

2) Don’t mention your ex ever in conversations with potential new partners as it is so off putting

3) Be easy, light and giggly , again men love it, and it makes them feel no pressure

4) Be mysterious and they will want you more

5) Repeated criticism, lots of expressions of contempt like sarcasm, being defensive and stonewalling , will result in communication shutting down.

6) Married, but living separately and seeing each other for 3 days over the weekend is becoming increasingly popular – the need for space amongst those over 40 is something which has become apparent

7) There is a belief that having an affair can bring the spark back into a relationship although it is a risky strategy
