Jules Thompson

Jules Thompson has worked as a youth worker, stand-up comic and, most recently, midwife. Her comedy career began in Australia - in just under a year, she went from pub gigs to the Melbourne Comedy Festival’s new-talent showcase, Comedy Zone, and support spots at the Sydney Comedy Store. Around this time, she was labelled a ‘tiny British bundle of nasty hilariousness’; she has apparently softened in her old age. After returning to the UK, she put comedy to one side and learnt to catch babies. From this privileged position, and drawing on her own (not insubstantial) experience, she has gained valuable insight into romantic, familial and even professional love. She considers herself lucky that she gets to use the word ‘oxytocin’ at least once a day. To protect both the women she cares for and her professional reputation she will be writing only as Jules Thompson.
